The McCabe Digital Library at Swarthmore College supports a range of student-centered activities: a lounge, eating nook, kitchen, and flexible study and lecture space.
The lecture area is outfitted with several dozen Flip-Top tables that can be arranged for group work or as a lecture hall. In addition, the Flip-top tables can be stowed away to open up the space for other activities as needed. To further support student work, there are several mobile markerboards and a mobile storage partition where supplies are kept.
Cava Architects developed a wall panel system that allows the space to be partially or fully closed off from the rest of the library.
Milder Furniture developed an ADA height-adjustable lectern, especially for Swarthmore.

The Platform Worktable provides a generous work surface, two basket drawers, and a shelf below. In addition, the lower platform can accommodate a range of oversized items such as looms and boxes. Table top is available in 3/4” birch plywood and 1 1/2″ butcher block.
Initially designed for textile departments and to store looms, the table is a helpful addition to maker spaces, classrooms, and workrooms.

The Book Mobile comes in single or double wide and offers storage on both sides (23″deep). Each compartment has three adjustable shelves that can be placed horizontally (as a shelf) or angled to display books, etc.

The Basic Lectern comes with open storage, and adjustable shelving with lockable casters offers a functional solution for teachers and lecturers. A sturdy mobile podium suitable for the classroom, library, office, and university setting. The unit is easy to move and comes with a footrest. The Tilt Bin Cart is part of the Milder Furniture Maker Series. The unit is outfitted with five tiers of tilt bins of various sizes; in total, 20 bins ranging in size from 3 3/4″ wide over 11″ wide for all your hardware, supplies, and art materials. The unit has a markerboard back and is easily moved from space to space—a great addition to the school classroom, STEM and STEAM labs, maker space, and workshop.
